Melissa Robbins is a civil rights activist, advocate and political strategist. She is a former radio talk show host (WURD Radio), television political analyst (6abc Inside Story), and national organizer based in Philadelphia.
Melissa is the co-founder of Northeast Philadelphia Against Racism (NEAR), a non-profit organization advocating for anti-racist policies at local and state levels. NEAR organized the first anti-racist protest in Northeast Philadelphia in the wake of the 2020 murder of George Floyd.
Melissa is a graduate of Temple University. She is a veteran of the United States Army and served as a delegate for Senator. Bernie Sanders at the 2016 Democratic National Convention. Melissa is an active leader in protests advocating for equity and against racism across the Philadelphia region. Most recently she organized a large coalition to denounce Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis being honored at the Philadelphia Union League. She is committed to advocating for underrepresented and marginalized communities and is dedicated to promoting change, equity, and justice at all levels of government.
In 2023 Melissa ran for Philadelphia City Council-At-Large. The campaign focused on representing long marginalized and under-served communities across the city by addressing gaps in our public education, ending the plague of gun violence, curbing poverty through increasing home ownership, the expansion of the urban tree canopy, and cleaning & brightening our streets. Robbins received 24,523 votes from residents city wide.
Most recently, Melissa served as Vice President, Advocacy, Public Policy & Legislative Affairs for the Urban League of Philadelphia. She currently is a political consultant in Philadelphia and is a board member for the Northeast Chamber of Commerce. As a proud mother of four children, Melissa is a frequent speaker at area colleges, universities and high schools, where she challenges and motivates students to embrace civic engagement and leadership.
